MORRISONS

Thank you Morrison's for helping provide some of our goodies for our first fundraising event! After presentations the girls arranged and headed off to Morrisons to get the supplies. We worked the maths and then with Sophie's discount card we were on our way!!! Lets hope it goes well...

We guessed the amount of custom we would get over the range of two days. We then double the amount of rashers (so that we weren't tight!) Fortunately there was an offer 2 for 1! (8 rashers per packet) Then Sophie enlightened us of Morrisons bread department.... Having asking charitiable donations from Morrisons and declined we went for their 2 for 1 buns (packs of 4) only to be offered yesterday that what bread we need....half will be added extra free!!! Effectively for each pack we got 3 free!!! Good work Sophie and Morrisons!! Thank you!!!

Our Bacon Bap Sales poster. whatcha think?

Originally, when we set out to design this we openly said we should go away design our ideas, bring back the next week and then we'll discuss. Due to a rushed session a week later it came to the decision to use all designs people created. Personally..after a weeks thought I wasn't happy with that conclusion. I feel that brings out a confused message to the audience. People might think that there's multiple sales going on at the same time! Plus when it comes to the actual exhibition people might think we're incompetent to make a decision so i suggested the middle ground. Merging elements of each person's design into one. Here's the result. I played around with various positioning of the words but i think this came out best! Well..i hope so. I achieved this by scanning, cutting and pasting through photoshop. Ella and I then headed up to Sion, photocopied and plastered the walls!!! :)

SPOTLIGHT (another potential floor plan design)

However I found it lacked space for the ever more important information that was needed...so I opted for a simpler design. I posted that earlier in my blog.

Other related links to my work...

Here is OVADA's website. I've help to provide images for it regarding different exhibitions showing. The first one I was involved with was Hunting the Pheonix (previously mentioned) The poster was designed by Jason Cripps and Joe Wilkins who have brought you the tRUCK festival posters: http://www.thisistruck.com/

1] http://www.ovada.org.uk/thumbs.php?exhibition_id=60 I really liked Matt Ager's golden horns and the other image you see is stencil work by Claude Brown. I was lucky enough to have gone on my art foundation with him!

2] http://www.ovada.org.uk/thumbs.php?exhibition_id=61 - bar the first two images they were photos I took on the preview night: 6th March 2010. I thought i was a well executed and curated show. This was a joint exhibition between OVADA and launch collaberative. Another Oxford based art group. Check out page two too!

3] http://www.ovada.org.uk/details.php?image_id=778&exhibition_id=66 As posted in my very first post to this site! I took part in the silent auction. A fantastic night! Upon leaving the gallery space for it's new redesign...we thought we'd go out with a bang! I donated this image, it raised £45 for the gallery.

2009: Hunting the pheonix exhibition - images

I was also asked by George (main organiser for AIJAW) to write this poem on the wall..so that's what I did!! You can also see an image of my cousin, OVADA's arts-co-ordinator Lucy Phillips...and me! (painting)

you can follow OVADA and AIJAW on Twitter and facebook.

2009: Hunting the pheonix exhibition - floorplan

I know this is old stuff. But I thought a bit of archiving wouldn't be a bad idea. I also helped out with this exhibition. A collaboration between Artisjustaword and OVADA. Here is the floor plan I designed. I had such an amazing experience working on this show. My cousin was involved, as well as Sam Zealey and co-founder to AIJAW Matt Clark. The pair have both been apart of the BBC series: School of Saacthi. (2009) Here's a quick link to sum up the experience:

At the time he was working as an art handler. He was fantastic at putting up the exhibition!

I also took some images of the exhibition which are up on OVADA's website. I'll post the links separately.
